Tool: Cost Visibility Check

How to use this check

A ten-minute check on whether your cost reporting arrives in time to inform a decision, or only explains one after the fact. About 10 minutes. Nothing you enter leaves your browser, and nothing is saved — print or export before you close the page.

1. Timeliness

How long after the cost is incurred does it appear in your reporting?

During an active shutdown or project, can you see today's spend against plan today?

2. Data connection

Is cost data automatically connected to the system tracking the operational work, or manually reconciled?

If the person doing the manual reconciliation was unavailable, would the report still arrive on time?

3. Decision relevance

Has a cost report ever arrived after the decision it was meant to inform had already been made?

When cost is trending over budget, can anyone currently act on it before the period closes?

If this is a recurring pattern across more than one cost centre, that's usually a reporting architecture conversation, not a one-off fix. Business Intelligence and Reporting.
